Well, I realize this blog’s updating has suffered in the last few weeks! So much has been happening, it’s hard to keep up…especially at the rate I’ve been posting.

The next couple of weeks probably won’t be any better either! However, I look forward to lots of updating when I have regular internet access again.

Hope your summer is going well!

Last Friday morning Dave took us about 45 minutes south of here by boat to the beautiful Broadback River. IMGP1278 (Medium)

We spent most of the day fishing from the boat in various locations just downstream from a set of rapids. IMGP1304 (Medium)

For lunch, we filleted some of the fish we (mostly Dave) had caught.  A large rock in the middle of the river provided both a convenient and picturesque location for the fish-fry! IMGP1336 (Medium)

Mom cooked up the fish that only hours before had been swimming serenely in the river!  Fried fish doesn’t get much fresher than that!IMGP1345 (Medium)

Dave, thanks for a wonderful couple of days to enjoy God’s beautiful creation!

Thursday afternoon the VBS here came to a close.  We’re thankful for God’s help in having a meaningful and well-attended VBS again this year.

Our first day of VBS here in Waskaganish started well with 50 enthusiastic children, with more on the horizon for tomorrow!

We are back in Waskaganish, and plan to be here until the end of July. I don’t have as ready internet access here, hence the lack of regular (or any) posts recently. Not to fear, Cameron and I are taking lots of photos and I hope to post some in the near future.

This morning I was looking through an album to find a few photos to add to my friend Jonathan’s upcoming wedding-day sideshow.  While doing so, I found some of a bike trip I took almost seven years ago.

My friend Michael, who’s wedding I was in this past January, and I took two weeks in July of 2000 to bicycle 900+ km’s around part of north-eastern Quebec’s region.  This included a stop at Lac Saint-Jean:

Camping along the way (except for a couple of nights at the approximate half-way point, when we stayed with friends of Michael’s family), we mostly cooked/made/stewed/ect our own food.

We also gained some notoriety among our families with this photo…due to the fact our backs are to the camera!  Well, we wanted the scene, and our interest in it, to be the focus of the photo.  Evidently, not everyone sees it that way.

Yes, I think bicycling is a wonderful way to see the countryside and experience the great outdoors!

johnston5 This morning, the release of BBC’s Gaza reporter who spent 114 days in captivity made news headlines.  One quote from the now-free Alan Johnston particularly caught my attention:

“Maybe you have to have been a prisoner of some kind, for some time, to know how good it is just to be able to basic things that freedom allows…”

Here’s your random life hint for the day:

Using soy milk instead of real milk in coffee is not a good idea.  I have no idea how it actually tastes, but it definitely doesn’t look appealing!

I’ll spare you the details of a photo…
