All I can claim to have learnt from the years I have spent in the world is that the only happiness is love, which is attained by giving, not receiving; and that the world itself only becomes the dear and habitable dwelling place it is when we who inhabit it know we are migrants, due when the time comes to fly away to other more commodious  skies.

This afternoon, I took a short walk down the road in front of my house.  Here are a few photos from this sunny, warm Fall day near Dorchester:

Let’s see…it’s been more than two months since I last posted!  Here’s a very brief photographic overview of that time:

In July-August my Mom, brother and I spent a month in Waskaganish:

Then, in August, my Uncle came to Lake McDonald and we insulated and re-sided the house:

In early September, I purchased a new-to-me 1994 Nissan pickup:

We packed/sold/gave-away/threw-out practically everything in the house in Cochrane:

I loaded my truck and moved to southern Ontario to serve as coordinator of a mentoring-in-mission program with a mission agency:

Mid-Sept, Alisa drove up to visit me for several days and to see the area around here where we plan to live after we’re married:

On Thursday, I arrived back after almost three weeks on a recruitment trip with the mission.  We visited individuals and colleges in B.C, AB, and SK.

This Thanksgiving weekend I’m getting settled into the house near Dorchester (near London, ON) where I’m renting a room.  It’s only about 7 minutes from the office, in beautiful farmland.

I’ll try to keep this blog more updated in the coming days.

This post is dedicated to Ben, a patient friend and dedicated blog-reader :-)

As you may have noticed, my website/blog has been down for the past few weeks.  I switched to a new host, and haven’t taken the time to work through the transfer until now.

Short update, eh?  For now…

…because she is now my fiancee :-))

Yes, I am thrilled to announce my recent engagement to Alisa Street.  This past Saturday I proposed to her on top of Natural Bridge…and she said "yes" :-)

Photo by Cameron, while we were passing through Moonbeam, Ontario last Wednesday.

Yes, winter’s grip had started to loosen while we were in Quebec last week!  Consequently, water was running pretty much everywhere, as evidenced by these photos.  This all must mean spring is finally nigh!
